Commemorative Medals

WCA-3411:  1689 William & Mary Silver Medal.  Medallic Illustration 693/88 and listed as rare.  Possible pattern silver farthing.  £245

WCA-4483:  1689 William & Mary Silver Medal.  Medallic Illustration 692/87 and listed as rare.  Probable pattern silver farthing.  £245

WCA-4678:  1689 Large William & Mary “Church” Medal.  Medal A in the image.  Restorers of the church.  A rather rare medal which in this case is guilded.  This process would have taken place shortly after minting.  A somewhat mysterious medal as the exact date of issue is unknown although it is believed to be one of the first medals struck under William & Mary.  Interestingly, the reverse depicts only William III.  The guilding is 99% intact – the 1% being a slight bit missing on the plain edge.  A stunning medal being larger than a W&M crown.  £329

WCA-4679:  1689 Large William & Mary “Church” Medal.  Medal B in the image.  Restorers of the church.  A rather rare medal which is not guilded.  A somewhat mysterious medal as the exact date of issue is unknown although it is believed to be one of the first medals struck under William & Mary.  Interestingly, the reverse depicts only William III.  A high grade example and a stunning medal, being larger than a W&M crown.  £369

WCA-4851:  1694 Large Medal, Queen Mary.  M.I. 111/343.  Commemorating the death of Mary in 1694.  £79

Proofs

Half Crowns

WCA-4001:  1690 William & Mary Silver Half Crown.  A good VF grade with wear to high points of hair etc.  Some toning.  Some contemporary scratches.   Rarer date in nice grade.  £425

Sixpences

WCA-3863:  1693 William & Mary Sixpence – EF Grade.  Lustrous with cabinet wear to high points.  Ex Peter Viola collection.  £945

WCA-4176:  1693 William & Mary Silver Sixpence.  A nice VF coin being better than the “flat” image suggests.  £425

Maundy

WCA-3468:  1689 William & Mary Silver Threepence.  Very good grade example from this elusive monarch.  £79

WCA-3728:  Unrecorded “Brockage-Type” 1691 W&M Silver Groat.  William & Mary Maundy pieces are uncommon in any grade these days.  This is good grade (attempted piercing, obv 12 O’clock) and an interesting error in that the reverse clearly has the obverse legend as a brockage ghost.  £69

WCA-4174:  1692 William & Mary Silver Threepence.  Nice example.  £59

WCA-4175:  1692 William & Mary Silver Twopence.  Nice example.  £59

WCA-2305:  Unrecorded “Brockage-Type” 1692 W&M Silver 2d.  William & Mary Maundy pieces are uncommon in any grade these days.  This is good grade and an interesting error.  £115

WCA-3791:  Unrecorded 1694 William + Mary Silver 2d.  Unbarred “A”s, unrecorded in Spink.  £57
